🏆 Congratulations Beni!
In a sizzling end to Season 6, Beni emerged victorious to claim the MasterChef Junior trophy, a guest appearance at Camp MasterChef this summer and the $100,000 grand prize! Hailing from Chicago, Beni was dubbed “one to watch” by the judges and placed in the top 3 during more challenges than any other contestant. We had a chance to sit down and catch up with Beni following her unforgettable night – see what she’s up to below!
What was going through your head before Gordon announced your name as the winner?
I was anxious. Everyone did so well and I wondered how the judges would decide. My heart was beating a million miles per hour.
How has the experience changed your approach to cooking?
I knew once I won MasterChef Junior that this was the beginning of my cooking journey and that I would focus on cooking more intently. I also want to continue inspiring other kids to cook!
Tell us about your favorite challenge during the season.
My favorite challenge was the chocolate challenge. Even though my dish did not get me the golden apron, it was very good and got me in the top 2 dishes of the night. Also, I LOVE CHOCOLATE!
Memorial Day is just around the corner. What will you be cooking up?
I do not have an exact idea what the dish will be, but I know it will be related to spring and delicious.
How will you spend your summer?
My summer will be full of activity! Besides cooking, I will be going on my annual Michigan trip with my family and friends and of course be visiting Camp MasterChef!
Describe your perfect meal.
My perfect meal is a whole herb crusted chicken with roasted beets, sautéed broccoli with brown rice.
What is your advice to home cooks around the country?
Cook healthy, delicious, simple food and always cook together as a family.
I plan to travel, taste new foods, explore my pallet and continue cooking!
