LA’s Hottest Choreographers Carnival

The inception of carnival was created by Carey Ysais and Paulette Azizian and what they are doing and have done for the world of dance is incredible and special.

They were discovered over two decades ago when they were only 14 and 16 years old and they’ve never looked back.

They’ve worked on major tours and projects for some of the greatest artists of all time like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Jennifer Lopez!

It was a super awesome 19th anniversary party indeed for LA’s hottest Choreographers Carnival which took place on Monday January 29th at the Avalon on Vine!

I would have to say that Dance truly is the greatest form of free expression.  So many talented artists have proved that over the years and It’s so beautiful and powerful how artists can truly tell a story through the motion of the body.  Every single move, look, breath, facial reaction, everything.  The emotions are endless and cover so much.  You can see love, fear, anger, hate, beauty and can feel so much through dance, watching dance, or living as a dancer.  When I first became aware of LA’s dance scene everyone would always mention that I needed to attend The Carnival, and at first I thought, oh it sounds fun, is it like a festival I asked naively? No.  It’s so much more and one of the greatest live dance shows I’ve seen and you can see once a month in LA if you’re lucky enough to get a ticket or a VIP invite.

The Carnival: Choreographers Ball is actually the largest running dance show in Southern California, before World of Dance and all of the other shows out there today.  Carnival is truly the hottest dance show one can attend and perform in.  It’s a popular monthly showcase of all of the greatest choreographers in the world from the world of dance, film, videos and music and who’s who in the industry are always in attendance with special super star guests, which in the past few years have featured Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul and Justin Timberlake just to name a few.  This year was no exception.  When I was invited to attend I was stoked and couldn’t wait because I knew I would be inspired and moved, especially because in the past year, I personally have gotten over my fear and started taking dance classes in LA for myself and for my own freedom of expression and growth as an artist and it’s changed me in more ways than I can explain he re.

There were rumblings that this evening was going to be extra special and there were several surprise guests and performances as well on this evening.  Some of the hottest choreographers of the night on the 19th anniversary included JR Taylor, Phlex-stravaganza, and Rhapsody James just to name a few.  Then there was a surprise performance by R&B Superstar Jason Derulo, and the sold out crowd went super crazy as they watched him work the stage to all of his greatest hits and dance it up on that stage.  The line to get into Carnival this year was in the hundreds so this was the place to be on this Monday evening in LA!

The inception of carnival was created by Carey Ysais and Paulette Azizian and what they are doing and have done for the world of dance is incredible and special.  They are dancers themselves and this platform that they’ve created is truly something remarkable and they have so much passion and love for the world of dance and choreographers and it shows and its rare in this world.  They are keeping the dance community together and are showcasing emerging talent on their stage and in their events every single month.  Anyone who is anybody in the music business and in the world of dance is always there looking for talent, recruiting talent, booking talent, signing talent and most importantly supporting the love and passion for dance as a whole.

The big honor of the night was when the lifetime achievement award was presented to Rich and Tone Talauega!  They are brothers and their creative minds and team effort have been influential for some of the worlds biggest talents as far as live shows, major tours, prime time television and acclaimed feature films are concerned.  They were discovered over two decades ago when they were only 14 and 16 years old and they’ve never looked back.  Hearing them accept their award and give their thanks to the fans and to all of the incredible people they’ve ever worked with was surreal.  They’ve worked on major tours and projects for some of the greatest artists of all time like Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chris Brown, Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, and Jennifer Lopez!

The 19th anniversary of the Choreographers Carnival was spectacular and left me breathless, yet super inspired and I urge you to attend and stay connected in the future because you have to experience the beauty of dance and the special discovery that is Carnival in Los Angeles.
