Marvel, explore, interact

Los Angeles (August 2014) – Twice a year, the innovative, experimental artists of the Brewery open their homes and studios to art lovers and cultural explorers. This fall’s Brewery Artwalk promises to be one of the best ever with new artists, interactive exhibits and an opportunity to find your perfect holiday gifts early.

Dodge laser beams with Two Bit Circus, be awed by fantastical sculptures that reach into the sky, or search deeply into the meaning of mesmerizing paintings. The artists of the Brewery stretch the meaning of art in different directions, but are often on the leading edge of the Los Angeles art scene.

Within the Los Angeles Brewery Arts Complex you’ll find ceramics, sculpture, glass art, street art, handcrafted jewelry, fashion, photography, prints and paintings. There are installations and performance, video art and galleries. Follow the color-coded map to the kind of art you most enjoy, then diverge to develop your own cultural understanding and discover something completely new.

This fall, The Brewery Artwalk will be more than an art show, but an event complete with some of the area’s best food trucks and a beer garden hosted by Barbara’s restaurant. The free event is for those who want to discover one-of-a-kind treasures, explore how Los Angeles artists live and work, or simply immerse themselves in creativity.

The 16-acre lot became an arts complex in 1982 after Los Angeles passed the artist-in-residence housing code, which gave artists the right to rent live/work space in industrially zoned buildings. About 500 artists now live and/or work at The Brewery. For 32 years, many artists have been opening their homes and studios to the public for Artwalks. The Artwalks began as annual events and are now held twice a year.

Who: The Brewery Artwalk Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3, with a board made up entirely of volunteer artists who run the event.
