Mexican American actress Lupe Ontiveros is remembered through this brilliant portrait by Chicana artist Yolanda Gonzalez. Her portrait was given to those honored at the Los Angeles Theatre Center located in downtown L.A. earlier this month in a special night remembering the late Ontiveros who performed at the theater. Best known for playing the convicted murderer Yolanda Saldivar in the movie “Selena,” Ontiveros performed in many major features and television network shows. She is remembered in this video produced by Velia La Garda for the LATC which is accepting donations to upgrade a theater and name it after the iconic actress who is greatly missed by Latino/Chicano artists worldwide.
