World Renown Chainsaw Artist Stacy Poitras Unveils The 7 Deadly Sins Sculptures

On Saturday, September 14, 2019 ArtQuench attended a private viewing of a brilliant sculpture artist Stacy Poitras.

The event unveiled The 7 Deadly Sins, 7 large sculptures named Envy, Lust, Greed, Gluttony, Sloth, Pride and Wrath each standing between 5 and 7 feet tall. Stacy gave us a first hand look at how he uses his tool of choice, a chainsaw with his performance art. The room was filled with an electric positive energy as all eyes were on Stacy moving around his sculpture with such a powerful tool to carve each line and curve with a precise understanding of what the end result would be. His passion could be felt and as a priest (Brandon Gibson) and a nun ( Stacey’s publicist Christine Peak) walked around with bent heads as classical music played everyone stood in amazement. The energy seemed to grow even stronger and it felt as though we were somehow all connected and moving along with Stacy’s every move.

The word impressive is true but it goes beyond that with Stacy. He sees the world in a way that most hide their head in the sand about, like how social media has become the only way people connect with one another anymore and that how many likes you receive are more important than human dignity.

The Chainsaw Artist is an upcoming documentary directed by Marco Bottiglieri and follows Stacy Poitras and his compelling work and he expresses his views on society and humanity. The film will include Poitras’ father-in-law Clint Eastwood, brother-in-law Scott Eastwood, wife Alison Eastwood, Sam Elliott, Titus Welliver, and others.

As the camera’s rolled throughout the night adding content for his highly anticipated documentary many of Stacy’s good friends and I might add who many are  A-list celebrity’s were there to support. Guests found Stacy’s work to be outstanding in craftsmanship and I heard whispers of Stacy’s work being in the same caliber as french sculpture Paul Landowski and Italian artist Gian Lorenzo Bernini, arguably the greatest sculptor of the 17th century.
