🍻 Oh Beer, We’re Down To The Top 19!
In last weeks episode, the contestants ventured outside the MasterChef kitchen to Anheuser-Busch brewery for their first team challenge! The intense lunch session required that the two teams prepare either fish and chips or chicken sandwiches for 101 hard-working brewers. After trying both dishes, they voted on their preferred dish, sending one team to the pressure test. Some chefs shined, while others crumbled.

🍳 Hungry For More? Dive Into Homestyle Favorites!
Gordon isn’t the only one with tips to share! We sat down with MasterChef Winners Luca Manfè and Claudia Sandoval to learn more about their Homestyle Favorites class on Craftsy. Sign up today to take your cooking to the next level with key techniques and full crowd-pleasing recipes!
Claudia, what memories does cooking your homestyle favorite shrimp and grits bring back?
Claudia: My family is from Mazatlan, Sinaloa, where shrimp is as abundant as all of the tropical fruits and fish. I wanted to create a recipe that takes me back to my roots of using Mexican ingredients…and marry them with my very American roots. I am a proud first generation American and I love being able to make recipes that share like ingredients like Corn Grits and Shrimp in a Guajillo sauce!
Luca, what memories does cooking your homestyle favorite lasagna bring back?
Luca: The lasagna brings back memories of holidays at the dinner table, eating with family and friends.
Tell us about your one must-have ingredient in the kitchen.
Luca: Salt. Without salt you cannot make anything taste good.
Claudia: The ingredient I must have in my kitchen are EGGS. I can make everything from scrambled eggs to quiche, to sauces like bernaise and hollandaise, to egg drop soup and chiles rellenos for dinner.
What are some other lessons on Craftsy that you’ve enjoyed?
Claudia: You guys know I love my Mexican food! So I loved watching Rick Bayless crush it in the kitchen, but my all-time favorite still has to be the Craftsy lesson on Miniature French Desserts! I love mini anything and these desserts are delicious, beautiful, and impress even the pickiest of guests at a dinner party.
What advice do you have for home cooks around the world? Claudia: My advice for home cooks around the world is to continue learning. To find a nearby market they haven’t been to. Ask the farmers/merchants/owners what the ingredients are and how to use them. Don’t be afraid to play in your kitchen. Some of my favorite recipes have come from completely failed recipes and simply just playing around with ingredients!
Luca: Practice makes perfect!
