Stephen Cargile

Stephen Cargile draws inspiration from the art of European film poster artists and the muralists of the United States’ WPA period of the 1930′s. A native of Texas, Steve grew up admiring the art deco buildings and murals of Fair Park in Dallas which were created in 1936 for the Texas Centennial. He learned an “architectural” approach to drawing from his father who was an expert draftsman. Steve enjoys portraying the Disney characters with a stylized simplification that connects to the basic essence of their personalities and had the fortunate opportunity to apprentice with veteran Disney animator Richard Ruhl. Over the years Stephen has worked as a Character Art Manager at Disney Consumer Products, and currently is a Principal Show Designer at Walt Disney Imagineering (specializing in the Disney characters), which has allowed him to art direct projects for various Disney Parks around the world.
