Jeff Granito was born and raised in Southern California, minutes away from the “Happiest Place on Earth”. Way too fearful of the Pirates of the Caribbean, and too motion sensitive for the teacups, he spent much of his time soaking in the design and art that created the magical park. Jeff would spend hours as a child in his bedroom drawing pictures and making paper sculptures of the many different attractions. He would construct the Matterhorn out of Legos and recreate the roller coasters that he would only dare ride in his imagination.
Growing up and leaving the sun and sand behind, Jeff studied for four years at Tufts University in Boston earning a BA in History. After graduation, he came home that summer to Southern California and registered for two night classes. One in advertising, the other course was graphic design. It was then that he discovered, the thing that he had always enjoyed doing as a child finally had a name. In 1994 he graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. Soon after graduation, Jeff had the privilege of working on a real life Disneyland® project. His first project was designing new art for the parks shopping bags! Since then, he has designed a variety of art and merchandise that has gone home in those bags for pleased Disney customers.
Going on fifteen years, Jeff continues to work as a freelance artist for the parks as well as other Disney divisions. He also creates art for Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Cartoon Network, Sketchers, and many other prestigious companies coast to coast. It is now his pleasure and honor to be a featured Disney artist.
Working out of his home studio, he is thrilled to be living close to the park that initially sparked his creativity as a child. He now takes his own family to experience the magic that Walt created many years ago. But you won’t find him upside down on California Screamin’, spinning at the Mad Tea Party, or launching into space. He’s most content absorbing the view, shopping bags in hand.
