The Arts-in-Parks program at Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area is now accepting submissions for installation art for the 2017 exhibit, “Members Only,” scheduled to run May through September 2017. Peter Strauss Ranch features terraced hillsides, a 650,000 gallon empty pool with a center stage, a large aviary, an amphitheater, terrazzo dance floor, lawns, a trail through oak woodland and chaparral and more. We ask that each artist engage the public in their art or art form at least once during the duration of the exhibit.
This enchanting oak woodland has long been a source of dreams, visions, and memories. The ranch was transformed into “Lake Enchanto,” a fairyland of charm and a paradise for children and adults. This members-only country club style resort drew hundreds of people daily and up to 5,000 people for company picnics from 1945-1955. Now a National Park Service site and free and open to the public, the “vision of enchantment” continues today with hiking, concerts, picnics and art exhibits.

CRITERIA FOR SELECTION:
- Artistic Merit: we are seeking site-specific, conceptually strong work.
- Appropriate: The piece created shall be appropriate and viewable by regular park visitors and their families and is non-political.
- Public Engagement: There is an opportunity for the artist to engage the public by using their art in a public performance, offering a workshop opportunity, or perhaps the public to add to your installation.
- Site Sensitivity and Stability: Installation should be well-constructed and carefully thought-out and should not impact or damage the natural or cultural resources of the site.

Beverly Hills Art Show
Held each May and October for forty-four years,
the Beverly Hills artSHOW is one of the most popular art events on the west coast.
The Beverly Hills artSHOW takes places across four linear blocks of historic Beverly Gardens Park in the heart of Beverly Hills. The artSHOW runs along Santa Monica Boulevard from Rodeo Drive to Rexford Drive.
The Beverly Hills artSHOW features 240 artists from all over the country working in many media. All artists at the Beverly Hills artSHOW are selling their work and each artist is available to talk to artSHOW guests throughout the weekend.

The 4th John Ruskin Prize is organised by the fine people at The Big Draw and Guild of St. George. This year’s theme is: Hand & Eye: Master of All Trades in The Age of Jack – a celebration of the artist as polymath (like Ruskin himself). 2017 marks the first year that The Prize will be open to makers and craftspeople, as well as fine artists over 18 and working in the UK. The top prize winner will receive £3000, 2nd prize £1000 and a Student Prize of £1000. 20 finalists will be included in an exhibition at The Millennium Gallery, Sheffield 21st June – 8th October 2017 where the three main winners will be announced at a private view in June 2017. Entry fees are 1 artwork: £12 for 1 artwork, £15 for 2 artworks and £20 for 3 artworks (with reduced rates for students).

Sunny Art Prize – deadline 20th Jun 2017
A London based fine art award for emerging and established artists with a global twist. Winners will receive a one month residency in both the FA Eduction of Art and Design residency centre and The Redtory Art & Design Factory (Guangzhou, Beijing or Macau). The first prize winner will receive £3,000, a public solo exhibition at Sunny Art Centre in London, a one month residency along with a show at a partners gallery. Second prize is £2,000, a group exhibition, a one month residency and show. Third prize is £1,000, group exhibition, a one month residency and show. Entry fees are £25 for one artwork, £32 for two artworks, £40 for three artworks and £45 for four artworks.

25th Annual International Exhibition
The Colored Pencil Society of America announces a call to artists for a juried art exhibition, June 10 – August 6, 2017 at The Mansion at Strathmore in North Bethesda, MD. Numerous cash awards total over $15,000, including the $5,000 CIPPY Best of Show. Juror: Dr. Joann Moser, former Senior Curator of Graphic Arts at the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Open to artists worldwide, 18 years or older, working with colored pencil. Submitted works must be 100% colored pencil, original, and completed in the past three years. $35 for non-CPSA members, $25 for members covers up to two entries.

Sightlines, 2017-2019: Call for Entries
The South Bend Museum of Art (SBMA) is seeking large-scale two- and three-dimensional artwork for long-term display in Sightlines, a collaborative project between the SBMA and the Century Center in South Bend, IN. The two year exhibition (June 17, 2017 – May 19, 2019) will highlight 3 new artists alongside 3 current artists. $1000 stipend for each selected artist. A modest printed piece will also be produced. All artists are eligible. Indoor and outdoor sites are available and will be considered for accepted proposals. Artist submission review and selection will be by representatives from the SBMA and the Century Center.

Biennial 29: Call for Entries
The South Bend Museum of Art’s all media Biennial 29 will present a diverse look into contemporary artwork in the Midwest and is open to all artists residing in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio and Wisconsin. The number of exhibiting artists is deliberately limited to allow for the showing of a greater body of work by each artist. This year’s exhibition (July 8 – October 1, 2017) will be juried by Miranda Lash, Curator of Contemporary Art at the Speed Art Museum. $1,500 in awards will be selected by the juror and $1,500 in purchase awards will be chosen by the South Bend Museum of Art’s Collections Committee. A color brochure detailing exhibiting artists will also be produced.

The Pennsylvania Watercolor Society announces a call to artists for their annual juried exhibition, September 11 – October 28, 2017 at the Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. $14,000 in awards. Jurors: Selection – Jeanne Dobie, Awards – Marjorie Glick. Open to all artists 18 and over working with water media on paper. Only original work never shown in any previous juried show or a PWS exhibition. No prints, copies, class work, or digital work allowed. No diptychs or triptychs. Arc Gallery in San Francisco seeks entries for a juried art exhibition, June 17 – July 15, 2017. The three works that express the most imaginative interpretation of the theme will be awarded $250, copy of catalog, certificate & ribbon. Juror: Suzanne Gray. What plants or animals inhabit your Earthly Paradise? Are they life forms native to where you live or exotic flora and fauna from far reaches of the planet? Would you bring back extinct species, import life forms from other galaxies, or create phantasmagorical plants and animals from your imagination? We welcome artists whose concerns are ecology-based as well as those whose subject matter is traditionally flora, fauna or landscapes. You are invited to display your technical prowess in realism, abstraction or fantasy. Open to artists residing in the United States. - Artists are invited to submit entries for ARTSites 2017, the year-long outdoor public art exhibit to be installed in the Tri-Lakes area (pop. 50,000+).
- The juried exhibit will be installed in June and be on display for one year. Artists selected for the exhibit will receive a $500 honorarium.
